Mother and son died after being hit by a pickup truck


There have been reports of the death of a mother and son after being hit by a pickup truck carrying a gas cylinder in Faridpur's Nagarkanda on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Father and daughter were injured.

The incident took place on Tuesday (April 16) around 6 pm at a place called Bara Kumardia in Nagarkanda, Faridpur on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.

The injured were rescued and admitted to Muksudpur Health Complex in neighboring Gopalganj.

The deceased mother's name is Sumaiya Akhter (35) and her 8-month-old son Mohammad Mir. The identity has been confirmed as Azmin Mia's wife and child of Siddhirpasha village in Launia, Jessore. Meanwhile, the victim's husband Azmin (45) and daughter Fatema Akhter (2) were seriously injured.

According to local and police sources, the deceased Sumaiya Akhtar was going to Dhaka with her husband and children on her husband's bike. On their way to the spot, they were hit by a pickup truck loaded with a gas cylinder coming from behind. Mother and son died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nagarkanda Police Station Aminur Rahman said that the police went to the spot and recovered the body. Traffic is normal and the body has been handed over to the broken highway police station.
