AB Party New Chairman Mojibur, Secretary Asaduzzaman – Bangladesh Diplomat

Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan Manju was elected as the chairman of the party in the first national council of My Bangladesh Party (AB Party) by a huge margin of votes. Lawyer Asaduzzaman Fuad was elected unopposed for the post of General Secretary. They will serve for the next three years.

The party's internal election commission announced the election results at the AB Party's first national council function at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday (January 11).

The National Council of AB Party was inaugurated by the family members of martyrs and injured persons of the Great Liberation War of 1971 and the July People's Uprising. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with leaders of various political parties were present on the occasion.

Voting for the chairmanship of AB Party was held at Suhrawardy Udyan on Friday from 9 am to 9 pm. Councilors from all over the country vote there. Expat and sick councilors vote online.

Three contested for the post of AB Party chairman. They are the party's founding convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury, founding member secretary Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan Manju and joint convener Colonel (Retd.) Didarul Alam. Out of total 2 thousand 806 voters, 1 thousand 689 people voted. Out of these 45 votes were invalidated.

Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan Manju was elected as chairman after receiving 1,400 votes. His rival AFM Solaiman Chowdhury got 211 votes and Didarul Alam got 33 votes.

Earlier yesterday, after voting for the post of chairman, the election for the post of general secretary was organized at night. There were 21 members of the AB party executive committee elected at the end of last month. However, as there was no other candidate for the post of General Secretary, Asaduzzaman Fuad was elected unopposed.

Today, along with the announcement of the results of the post of chairman and secretary, the names of 21 executive council members were also announced.
