Adhikar Adilur-Elan's two-year sentence overturned

The High Court canceled the sentence of the editor of the human rights organization Odhikar Adilur Rahman Khan Shubhra and director Nasir Uddin Elan. A single High Court bench of Justice Abdur Raber delivered the judgment on Thursday (August 22).

Adilur Rahman is currently serving as the Industrial Advisor to the Interim Government.

Judge AM Zulfikar Hayat of Dhaka's cyber tribunal sentenced Adilur Rahman Khan and Nasiruddin Elan to two years in prison in a case under section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. The verdict was given on September 14 last year.

Dhaka's cyber tribunal ordered two years imprisonment for Adilur Rahman Khan Shubhra and ASM Nasir Uddin Elan in a case filed under the Information Technology Act on charges of data distortion related to raids on Hefazte Islam rally in Motijheel in 2013.
