Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in Bangladesh, will be reopened tomorrow Sunday after being closed for three months. Opening for Tourists, Bawalis, Kathuliyas, Fishermen and Mouals.
Khulna Forest Conservator Mihir Kumar Dev said that entry to the Sundarbans is prohibited from June 1 to August 31 every year for the growth of Sundarbans plants and the proliferation of fish in the rivers and canals flowing inside the Sundarbans. Tourists and anyone associated with Sundarbans cannot enter Sundarbans.
Bawali, Kathuria and fishermen are having a busy time to enter the Sundarbans due to the opening of the Sundarbans tomorrow on September 1. Many are painting their boats and trawlers. Others are building new boats.
Munshi Kamruzzaman of Dhamrail village in Paikgacha upazila said that at the same time they are repairing boats and making new nets for fishing.
Aziz Khalifa of Mahesharipur, Koira said that most of the people of Koira are involved with the Sundarbans. As a result, entry to the Sundarbans was banned for three months, so people had to survive in this area.
Meanwhile, since Sundarbans will be opened from tomorrow, David Aslam, who is involved in tourist transportation, said, “We have also started preparing to enter Sundarbans with tourists.” Every year 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh tourists visit Sundarbans.
There are different varieties of trees like Sundari, Garan, Keora in Sundarbans. There are also many species of fish and crabs. Through which huge amount of revenue is earned from Sundarbans every year.
