Bangladesh saw a change of power on August 5 in the face of intense student movement. Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on that day after 15 years in power. On that day he left the country and took refuge in India. After the fall of the government, there is great joy among the common people. However, some incidents of violence also occur across the country due to this shift.
In various Indian media and social media platforms, it is said that there are attacks on the Hindu community following Sanatan Dharma in various parts of Bangladesh. These complaints continued for the next two-three days from the night of the fall of the government. However, later factcheck revealed that almost all of these were rumours.
Even though the rumors have subsided, the reaction has not stopped in India. The news of violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh is still circulating in several Indian media.
Now a new dimension has been added to it. Threats have been made to attack the India-Bangladesh cricket match to be held on Indian soil in September-October due to the persecution of the Hindu community in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is scheduled to play two Tests against India in September and a three-match Twenty20 series in October. The Indian media Free Press has reported concerns about the first T20 match of the series in Gwalior on October 6. A related video has been published on news media's X handle.
Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, a Hindu nationalist political party in India, demanded the cancellation of the match to be held in Gwalior. Hindu Mahasabha Vice-President Dr. Jayveer Bharadwaj told reporters that they will make every effort to cancel this match.
In the end, they threatened to attack if this match was held. In this context, Jayveer Bharadwaj said, 'Hindus are being massacred in Bangladesh… Temples are being destroyed. Even then PM Modi has decided to hold the match here. Hence, the Hindu Mahasabha decided to oppose the India-Bangladesh cricket match in Gwalior. The match should be called off to maintain peace as otherwise there will be unrest in the country.'
The T20 match was scheduled to be held at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. However, during the Bangladesh series, the venue renovation work will continue in that stadium. That is why the match has been moved to Gwalior. This time there is concern around that match.
Bangladesh's tour of India will begin on September 19 with the first Test of the series in Chennai. The two teams will play the second and final Test in Kanpur from September 27. Both Tests will start at 10 am Bangladesh time. Then the T20 series. After the first T20 in Gwalior on 6 October, the second and third T20 will be held on 9 and 12 October. All the matches of this series will be day and night.
