Bangladesh has called on the European Union (EU) to support the proposal to allocate 200 billion US dollars for least developed countries (LDCs) and the most vulnerable countries to face the challenges of the climate crisis.
Director of Environment Department (Air Management) and member of Bangladesh delegation made this call in the bilateral meeting held between LDC Ministers and EU Ministers on the final results of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan on Friday. Ziaul Haque.
The meeting emphasized on achieving a balanced and equitable agreement through the cooperation of both sides to resolve the remaining issues.
At the meeting, the representative of Bangladesh said that many problems still remain unresolved. He urged both parties to work together to ensure a meaningful and inclusive agreement on COP29.
In the meeting, the LDC Ministers highlighted the need for financial and technical support to combat the effects of climate change.
EU ministers acknowledged the concerns of LDC countries and reiterated their commitment to address climate risks and ensure sustainable development.
The meeting discussed key issues such as climate finance, adaptation, emissions reductions and the global stocktake process. The meeting marked an important step forward in taking effective action by giving weight to the voices of the most vulnerable countries in the final negotiations of COP29.
