Case against 22 people including Hasina


A case has been filed against 22 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in connection with the death of City University student Sajjad Hossain Sajal in front of Ashulia police station on August 5 during the student-public movement for one-point demand.

On Wednesday (August 28), Sajal's brother Mizanur Rahman filed the case in the court of Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman as the plaintiff.

The court directed the Ashulia police station to take the statement of the plaintiff as evidence.

The rest of the accused in the case include – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former Awami League Member of Parliament Saiful Islam, former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former DB Chief Haroon Or Rashid, former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman and former DMP Jom. Commissioner Biplab Kumar Chowdhury.

Plaintiff's lawyer Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter.

In the complaint, Mizanur Rahman said that when his brother took part in the bypile quota reform movement in front of Ashulia police station on August 5, the police opened fire on the students and took away Sajal. Police tortured Sajal in police custody and shot him dead. The police later took Sajal's body to a lagoon and set it on fire to destroy the evidence.

Along with this, 72 cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina. Out of which 61 murders, seven crimes against humanity and genocide, three abductions and one attack on a BNP procession.
