Case against 28 leaders and workers including president of Bandarban district Awami League

Two cases have been filed at the Bandarban Sadar police station against 28 leaders and workers including the Chairman of Bandarban Zilla Parishad and District Awami League President Kyashaihla, General Secretary Lakshmipad Das in connection with the attack on the agitators during the anti-discrimination student movement.

On Thursday (August 22), ward BNP leader Shamim Hossain and district Chhatra Dal general secretary Shahidul Islam filed two cases under the Special Powers Act as plaintiffs.

Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Bandarban Sadar police station, said that the case has been registered and sent to the court. On the other hand, the general secretary of Jalha Chhatra Dal said that the case was filed on the orders of the party's high level. The accused in the case are 1. General Secretary of District Awami League and Member of District Council Lakshi Pad Das (50) 2. District Council Chairman and District Awami League President Kyashihla Marma (50) 3. Zilla Parishad Member Mozammel Haque Bahadur (48) 4. Municipal Awami League President Amal Kanti Das (50) 5. Municipal Councilor Saurabh Dash Sheikh (48) 6. Jubo League leader Chowdhury Prakash Baraya (45), 7. Raju Baraya (38) 8. Farooq Ahmed Fahim (35) 9. Municipal Councilor Umar Farooq (40) 10. Jubo League leader Md. Hakim, 11. Abu Tayyar Chowdhury (30) 12. Mohammad Arif (25), 13. Md. Tarekul Islam, 14. Zilla Parishad Member Kanchan Tangnchangya (50) 15. Chhatra League leader Washed Chowdhury (40), 16 Municipal Councilor Ajit Kanti Das (45) 17. Awami League leader Md. Mohiuddin (45) 18. Jubo League leader Akash Chowdhury (26) 19. Chhatra League leader Saddam Hossain (22) 20. Jubo League leader Umar Farooq (35) 21. Sramik League leader Rafiqul Islam (45), 22. Jubo League leader Alamgir Driver (30) 23. Noor Mohammad Kalu (45), 24. Mohammad Nuru (45), 25. Md. Hanif (28), 26. Akkas Ali (40), 27. Abu Taher Murgi Taher (45) 28. Md. Ismail (25).

Besides, there are 120 other people who are not identified as accused. In the statement of the case, it is said that during the anti-quota movement on July 16, the accused attacked the students and obstructed the movement in various ways.
