The Texas native was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and eventually signed with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He had quite a college career and was inducted into the Ring of Honor during the 2022 season.

However, the love from his alma mater didn’t stop there. The new Texas Tech quarterback meeting rooms and offensive coordinator office have been named after Mahomes.

Texas Tech’s current offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Zach Kittley, shared the photos via Twitter/X.

The two rooms have been named after Mahomes in the new Texas Tech facility.

Mahomes played at Texas Tech for three seasons and recorded impressive stats. He completed 857 passes for 11,252 yards,8.3 yards per attempt, 93 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, and a pass completion percentage of 63.5 percent with a passing efficiency rating of 152.0.

Mahomes play only increased year after year, and he finished his junior season winning the Samm Baugh Trophy, annually awarded to the nation’s top collegiate passer and the Second-team All-Big 12.

The 28-year-old ended up choosing to forego his senior season and declared for the 2017 NFL Draft. The Chiefs traded up to elect Mahomes with the No. 10 overall pick in the draft after they traded up in the draft with the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs originally had the No. 27 overall pick.

When it’s all said and done, Mahomes will eventually get some love from his current team. In his seven-year career, the two-time All-Pro holds a 74-22 record, completed 2,386 passes, 66.5 percent completing percentage, 219 touchdowns, 63 interceptions, and a 103.5 passer rating. He has also been named a six-time Pro Bowler.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes are set to embark on yet another incredible season where they’ll look to become the first time in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. It will be the battle of a lifetime, but with Mahomes on their side, they have a great chance to achieve that.
