Demand resignation of VC of North South University

The students have demanded the resignation of the VC Professor Atiqul Islam of the private North South University. For this, the students gave an ultimatum along with the continuous movement. However, the VC is adamant about staying in office. This is increasing anger among students. Besides, the students are also demanding that the chief of security of the university should resign.

The students said in a press release that since the beginning of the anti-discrimination student movement, the VC has been openly fighting against the students. On July 18 and August 5, the main gate of the university was closed directly by the decision of the VC. At that time the police, Chhatra League and government supporters were beating the students. Many students were seriously injured in these two days. Many of whom are still receiving treatment. They warned that if the vice-chancellor does not resign, more strict programs will be given.

Students complain that the quality of education in other universities is increasing, while the quality of education in North South University is decreasing. Good teachers are leaving because of partyization. Many are denied promotion. This VC is illegally serving as vice chancellor for the third term due to party influence.

A student named Tausif said, 'The biggest attack on us was on July 18 and August 5. These two days the police, Chhatra League and Awami League people used all their might with bullets and indigenous weapons on the students of North South. We were bloody, helpless. When I went in front of the university to save my life with a bloody body; The gate was then closed. What could be a greater pain than this? Our university paved the way for our death. No one but those who were there at that time will understand; What a situation we went through. Our VC is fully responsible for this incident. The VC's 'aggressive' directives against the students were fully implemented during the agitation.
