EC's new directive on revision of NID

47 thousand 803 applications related to National Identity Card (NID) are pending in various offices. The Election Commission (EC) has ordered to dispose of them within 15 days.

On Thursday (August 29), the director of NID branch of EC sent the instructions to the field officers. Farhad Hossain.

According to the instructions, 30 thousand 386 applications of 'A' category 'Sent Back to Citizen' and 17 thousand 437 applications of 'Additioner Document Requirement' are pending.

These applications have been pending since 2011 and for a long time thereafter. Therefore, the concerned upazila/ police station election officer is requested to dispose of the incomplete applications in 'A' category 'Sent Back to Citizen' and 'Additioner Document Requirement' within the next 15 working days.

Incidentally, EC disposes of applications in seven categories.
