Emergency department of Dhaka Medical is closed, patients are returning

The doctors of Dhaka Medical College (DMEC) are observing a strike after the doctors were assaulted by entering the operation theater of Dhaka Medical College (DMEC) hospital. From Sunday (September 1) morning, they have stopped medical services from all the wards including the emergency department and outpatient department of the hospital.

Doctors joined the cause on Sunday morning, but they left the hospital as the day progressed. Finally, around 9:30 am, the medical officers of the emergency department closed their rooms and the ticket counter of the emergency department was closed. Since then, the number of patients in front of Dhaka Medical Center has increased. It was seen that most of the patients went from one hospital to another without getting a doctor.

Ruma Akhtar said, the staff later told that the doctor will not come today. Then why they could not say this earlier. After waiting all day, my mother's condition has worsened, who will take the responsibility.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Medical College Hospital Assistant Director (Administration) Mohammad Abdur Rahman told the media that the doctors of the emergency department have stopped medical services since this morning due to insecurity. Yesterday a group of outsiders came and caused trouble. They took the doctors out of the surgery room and beat them up.

It is known that Bangladesh University of Business Technology (BUBT) student Ahsanul Haque Diptar died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical. Then the student's family and BUBT students came to Dhaka Medical. They came to Dhaka Medical and claimed that their friend died due to negligence.

Later on Saturday afternoon, the doctors were beaten up by entering the operation theater over Deeptar's death. Neurosurgery department doctors Imran, Mashrafe and Zubair were injured.

Doctors identified the culprits after seeing the CCTV footage and issued an ultimatum to arrest three doctors of neurosurgery department. Otherwise they announced that they will go on strike after 24 hours.
