Flood situation improved within 48 hours: Flood Warning Centre

Flood situation may improve in next 48 hours. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center also said that there is no possibility of new flooding at this time. Sardar Uday Raihan, Executive Engineer of Flood Forecasting and Warning Center, told reporters this information on Friday (August 23).

Sardar Uday Raihan said, 'We are not seeing any major flood risk in our main river basin. All rivers in major river basins are flowing below danger level. For example Brahmaputra, Ganga basin and Surma river in Meghna basin are flowing below the danger line. At some points of the Kushiara River, the water is flowing slightly above the danger level. It will also go down really fast.'

He said, 'There is no major rainfall in the Brahmaputra, Ganga basin at the moment due to the upstream flow. So I don't see any risk of flooding at the moment. After 48 hours the flood situation we have now will improve. The situation will improve within 48 hours.'

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said that the experts had already warned that the rainfall may be high this monsoon.

Directorate meteorologist Bajlur Rashid said on Thursday, in the 28th session of the South Asian Climate Outlook Forum held in Pune, India in April this year, it was said that this monsoon may rain more than normal. As there will be more rain in Bangladesh, there is a risk of more rain in the Indian states upstream of Bangladesh.
