Former IGP Shahidul Haque and Abdullah Al Mamun detained

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun have been detained. Both were detained in the capital Dhaka.

Law and order forces arrested two former police chiefs from the capital on Tuesday (August 3) night.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Chief Rezaul Karim Mallik has confirmed the matter in some media.

He said that both of them are now in the custody of the Detective Police (DB).

The Awami League government collapsed in the student uprising on August 5. Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was in charge of IGP in that government. His contractual appointment was canceled the day after the fall of the government.

On the other hand, Shahidul Haque was appointed as IGP on December 30, 2014. He retired on 31 January 2018.
