Government will not give protection to Aziz-Benazir: Salman F Rahman

Prime Minister's Advisor on Private Industry and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman said that the government will not provide any kind of protection to former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed and former Army Chief General (retd) Aziz Ahmed. Law will run at its own pace.

He said this at the end of the meeting of the National Committee formed to prevent accidents and ensure safe working environment in factories, industries and commercial establishments on Wednesday. Salman F Rahman is the chairman of the committee.

In response to the question whether the government is embarrassed about the irregularities of the former army chief and police chief, the adviser to the prime minister said, 'Our Awami League general secretary has clearly said that if anyone breaks the law, action will be taken according to the law. I don't believe there will be any embarrassment for the government here. Law will run at its own pace. What he said is that no matter how influential the person is, the government will not give any kind of protection to anyone. The law will run at its own pace.'

When attention was drawn to the murder of Bangladeshi parliamentarian Anwarul Azim Anna in India, the advisor said, 'We are all very shocked about it. As you know the incident is under investigation. It is not appropriate to comment on this until the investigation is over.'
