In the first week of September, no remittances arrived in 12 banks


In the first 7 days of this month, remittances have reached 584.5 million US dollars. According to this, an average of 83.5 million dollars of remittances came to the country every day. This information is known from the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (September 8).

It is said that in the first 7 days of this month of September, 58 crore 45 lakh 40 thousand US dollars remittances have arrived in the country. Of this, 15 crore 27 lakh 90 thousand US dollars came through the state-owned banks.

Besides, 1 crore 48 lakh 30 thousand dollars came through specialized banks, 41 crore 52 lakh 70 thousand dollars through private banks and 16 lakh 50 thousand dollars through foreign sector banks. However, no remittance has come to 12 banks in the country, including state-owned banks.

The updated report also said that 12 banks have not received any remittance in the first week of September. These include one state-owned bank, one specialized bank, 5 private banks and 5 foreign banks.

In the first 7 days of September, no remittances came to the state-owned Bangladesh Development Bank or BDBL, the specialized sector Rajshahi Krishi Unyanan Bank or Rakab and the private sector Community Bank Bangladesh Plc, Citizens Bank, Padma Bank, Simondat Bank and ICB Islami Bank.

Apart from this, no remittances came from foreign sector banks Al-Falah, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, State Bank of India and Uri Bank.

Earlier, after remittances of $253.86 million in June last year, the remittances in the first month of the current financial year came in at around $191 million, which was the lowest in the last 10 months.
