India will work with the interim government of Bangladesh

Dr. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has announced to work with the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. He said, they will try to identify and pursue matters of mutual interest.

He said this at the launch of Rajiv Sikri's new book 'Strategic Conundrums: Reshaping India's Foreign Policy' on Friday (August 30).

Jaishankar said on the occasion that India has had both good and bad relations with Bangladesh since independence. Besides, it is normal for India to work with the current government of Bangladesh. But at the same time he commented, it has to be accepted that the political pot change in Bangladesh can be disruptive.

Jaishankar said, “Since the independence of Bangladesh, our relations have gone up and down. And it is very natural that we will work with the current government. But we have to admit that there is a political change in Bangladesh. And it can be disruptive. Clearly we have to look at mutual interests here.”

On August 5th, dictatorial Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign in the face of a mass uprising by students. After that he fled the country and went to India.

Since then, the demand for India to return Hasina is increasing. Because all the people of Bangladesh want Hasina to face justice and justice for the misrule she has carried out for the last 15 years.

Dr. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to congratulate Muhammad Yunus after he was sworn in as the interim head of government. Then Yunus spoke to Modi on the phone on August 17. During this time, they talked about the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh. At that time, Yunus told Modi that minorities in Bangladesh do not accept torture. Besides, he urged Indian journalists to come to Bangladesh to report on the ground.
