Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury is the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission

Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury has been nominated as the new chairman of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission.

On Tuesday (August 27), the secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. This was informed in the notification signed by Golam Sarwar. It is said that the appointment will be effective immediately.

According to the notification, the President has nominated him as per Rule 3(2) of the Commission Rules-2007.

Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury took oath as a judge of the Appellate Division on August 13. On 27 August 2003, he was appointed to the High Court as an Additional Judge. His appointment to the High Court became permanent after two years.

The Judicial Service Commission is responsible for selecting candidates for the posts of lower court judges.

Earlier, Justice M Inayetur Rahim was appointed as the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission. After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, he resigned from the Appellate Division in the face of student protests. As a result, the post of Chairman of Judicial Service also became vacant.
