Kuwait has changed the method of hiring expatriate workers. The country has lifted restrictions to ease the labor shortage and reduce the cost of hiring workers. The new rules will be effective from June 1. The news is from Gulf News.
The Kuwaiti media reported that the Labor Department of Kuwait unanimously decided to cancel the previous system.
Under the previous rules, companies that employed workers were obliged to hire workers from among those who were in Kuwait. As a result, the cost of labor in the country has increased a lot. Which has an impact at the consumer level as well.
In such a situation, the government of the country has taken initiatives to reduce the labor cost at the same time to reduce the labor crisis.
Last year, the Kuwaiti government offered two jobs simultaneously to workers working in the private sector. However, the first and original employer's permission is required to hold two jobs.
Part-time jobs are allowed to work for a maximum of four hours a day. However, due to labor shortage in the construction sector, this sector was kept out of this rule.
