A retired audit officer named Haroon Or Rashid Akand (67) died when he was run over by a truck while walking on the side of the road in Nandail, Mymensingh. Nurul Islam (66), a retired teacher of Chandipasha Government High School, was seriously injured.
The accident happened on the morning of Wednesday (April 24) at a place called Chandipasha new market on the Mymensingh-Kishorganj highway.
The deceased Haroon Or Rashid Akand is the son of deceased Habibullah of Pangkarhati Dhanarama village of Gangail Union of Nandail Upazila. He retired as Editor from Nandail Treasury Office.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandale Highway Police Station Snehanshu Bikas Sarkar said that Harun Or Rashid Akand and Nurul Islam, a retired teacher of Chandipasha Government High School, were walking on the side of the highway in Chandipasha New Bazaar around 7 am today. A speeding truck hit them. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Nandail Upazila Health Complex. Harun ar-Rashid died there. The truck fled after the incident.
