Road blockade demanding the resignation of the principal

Principal of Manurhat Abdul Haque Chowdhury Degree College in Chagalnaya. The students locked the office and class room as Mohammad Mahatab Hossain Pramanik did not resign within 48 hours. Besides, they protested by blocking the road for five hours.

These incidents took place at Manurhat Abdul Haque Chowdhury Degree College in Chagalnaya, Feni yesterday, Sunday (August 18) from 10 am to 3 am.

It is known that the principal of Abdul Haque Chowdhury Degree College for a week. The students are holding a continuous program to demand the resignation of Mohammad Mahatab Hossain Pramanik, accusing him of arbitrariness, irregularities and corruption. At the same time they made a written complaint to the District Commissioner. Last Thursday, the students set a deadline for the principal to resign within 48 hours.

But since the principal did not resign, they locked the office room and class room of the college from Sunday morning in protest. Later, the angry students blocked the Chagalnaya-Buxmahmud road for five hours and shouted various slogans against the principal. At this time revolutionary cultural programs were organized with local artists.

In this regard, President of College Governing Body and Chagalnaya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam Kamal said that the students have already given a written complaint. We are investigating this matter. There is a meeting of the college governing body this week. We will quickly jump to a conclusion. When asked where the principal was, the UNO said that he had taken medical leave. However, he could not specify how many days he is on leave.
