Students call for 'Nabanna Abhiyan' in Kolkata on the model of Bangladesh

The students of West Bengal, India have called for 'Nabanna Abhiyan' in the direction of the state secretariat on the pattern of long march for the public building of the anti-discrimination student movement in Bangladesh.

On 27th of this month, 'West Bengal Student Society' will conduct 'Nabanna Abhiyan'. It will not have any party flag. It does not mention any route. That is, processions can come from different parts of the city. And this is why the administration is shaking. And BJP MLA Shuvendu Adhikari, leader of the opposition in West Bengal, has expressed his support for this program.

Police have so far arrested one person in connection with the rape and murder of a doctor at Rjikar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata. Meanwhile, the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) has taken charge of the investigation.

In the past two weeks, people from all walks of life have been protesting demanding the arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment. Not only in Kolkata but also in various districts of West Bengal, protests and demonstrations are going on every day by some organization.

On Friday (August 23), after the health building siege, the BJP took out a police siege in Bengal on the same day. Clashes with the police there too. At such a time the call came for the Nabanna siege program of the administrative building of the state.

The state approached the Calcutta High Court to suppress the protests. If somehow the gathering can be stopped. But the court did not agree to it. On Friday (August 23), Calcutta High Court Judge Harish Tandon said that peaceful protests are possible. In other words, the High Court did not object to this protest march.

In this regard, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that the peaceful protest cannot be stopped in any way, and no action can be taken against the protestors. At the same time, the court also said that the state government can take legal action if necessary.

Members of BJP, CPM students and other wing organizations are protesting every day across the state including Kolkata. CPM affiliates took the common people along with the flag of the political party and practically took the state to mass protest. Common people also participated in this protest.

CPM, BJP, ISF and Congress are chanting slogans like 'Dafa Ek Daabi Ek / Resignation of Chief Minister Mamata' just like the one-step call was given in various districts of Bangladesh including Dhaka after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. This slogan has now spread in various districts of West Bengal including Kolkata. The people of a part of the state have been inspired.

Close to 60 percent of people in West Bengal did not vote for the Trinamool in the Lok Sabha elections that ended a few months ago. Trinamool did not get the votes of educated and conscious people especially in urban areas. Those people are joining the movement to bring down the Mamata Banerjee government.

On Wednesday afternoon, junior doctors of various medical colleges, including RGKor Medical College, held a protest march. Even employees of various IT companies of Kolkata also marched in Salt Lake. In the history of Kolkata from Job Charnak's time till now, such a continuous march protest has happened for the first time in the last 13 days.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already said twice, 'Many people are trying and conspiring to overthrow the government after seeing Bangladesh. Our government is the elected government of the people.'

Opposition leader of West Bengal Subhendu Adhikari said that one from every family has been urged to stay in Navanna Abhiyan. I will personally go there. It is not a party call. Everyone understands that the chief minister is the head of all problems. I will tell him, take all measures including resignation by the 26th so that there is no firing on the 27th.

From the police administration to the ruling party Trinamool, the apolitical Navanna campaign called by the students has been shaken.
