Tangua-Sunamganj 1 rescue boat drowned in the water of rescue relief office

Tangua Sunamganj-1, a rescue boat worth half a million rupees, standing next to the helpless people who were submerged in the water of Boulai river for a long time, was rescued. Prominent people in the area called upon the relevant authorities to ensure the proper use of the government property that has been abandoned for the past two years due to negligence.

On Monday afternoon, the upazila project implementation officer removed the water and kept it at the police station. It is said to be useful for the residents of Haor Par during the monsoon season.

It has been found that the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief handed over one to Sunamganj District Headquarters and one to Tahirpur Upazila in 2022. In that year, the entire Sylhet district including Tahirpur experienced a terrible flood. This rescue boat is used for various purposes during floods. Public and private relief was taken to flood affected and displaced people.

After this the boat became vulnerable. Later, when the river flooded due to heavy rain, the rescue boat went under water. The 54 feet long and 12.50 feet long hood of the rescue boat was torn off. The main body, including the engine, has rusted in various places due to being under water for a long time.

Tahirpur Bazar speed trader Kudar Ali said, the rescue boat was lifted from the water and tied to the shore this afternoon. Proper use of this boat will benefit everyone especially during this sitting season.

Junab Ali, chairman of Tahirpur Sadar Union Parishad, said that Sunamganj 1 rescue boat will be very useful during monsoon in Howar area Tahirpur. It was also used in the last flood. Monsoon has come, the people of Haor Par will be of little use.

General Secretary of Upazila Awamiligig Amal Kanti Kar said that if the concerned authorities use this government resource seriously, it will benefit the people of this area. Government resources cannot be wasted in any way.

Tahirpur Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Mohibur Rahman said, the rescue boat has been lifted from the water and necessary steps have been taken for maintenance.
