Chief advisor. Muhammad Yunus said that one of the priorities of the interim government is to bring back hundreds of millions of dollars smuggled abroad during the 15-year dictatorial regime of Sheikh Hasina.
Internationally renowned human rights lawyer Toby Cadman said this on Monday (September 2) when he went to meet the Chief Adviser at the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna.
Dr. Yunus said his government was committed to internationally acceptable justice for those who ordered and carried out the massacre during the student uprising.
Dr. Cadman in the meeting. Yunus was told that the indiscriminate firing by the law enforcement forces on the general students in July and August is direct genocide. This internationally renowned human rights lawyer suggested setting up a national tribunal of international standards for its trial.
Cadman said Bangladesh urgently needs to establish an effective domestic legal framework for truth, justice and accountability, which is duly supported by the international community and accepted by the people of Bangladesh.
While presenting several proposals to the Chief Adviser, the British lawyer said, “We are ready to support Bangladesh in its efforts to create a framework for the extradition of persons involved in crimes against humanity, economic crimes and political corruption.” We want to work to bring back those who fled the country.
The chief counsel after hearing his proposals asked to submit the proposals in written form.
