In a statement, BSF said, they are committed to keep the 4,96 km international border between Bangladesh and India intact. It is also determined to ensure the safety and security of the people in the border areas. The BSF expressed this position after a meeting with a special committee appointed by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs held in Kolkata last Thursday.

BSF said that since August 12, various levels of BSF and BGB officials have held 722 rounds of meetings. In a statement, the Indian Border Guarding Force said that both the Border Guarding Forces simultaneously conducted 1,367 Coordinated Patrols (SCPs) at vulnerable border points.

In the statement, BSF also said that during these border meetings, BGB officials have been informed to prevent illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Indian territory. The BGB has assured to take all possible steps for the safety of Indian citizens and people of minority communities in Bangladesh.

Officials of both the forces are in constant communication and exchanging various operational information on real-time basis, it said. India's home ministry has constituted a committee comprising senior officers headed by Additional Director General of BSF's Kolkata-headquarters Eastern Command. This committee will work to ensure the safety and security of Indian citizens, Hindus and other minority communities living in Bangladesh.
