Former Senior Secretary Kazi Habibul Awal was appointed as CEC on February 26, 2022. Besides, retired Brigadier General Ahsan Habib Khan, former district and session judge Begum Rashida Sultana, former senior secretary Md. Alamgir and former senior secretary Anichur Rahman.

Under this commission, at the beginning of this year, Awami League won 223 seats, Independent 56, Jatiya Party 11, Jasad, Workers Party and Kalyan Party won one seat each out of 299 seats in the one-party 12th National Parliament Election. This election was mainly between groups.
