The professor of DU resigned

The dean of the Faculty of Arts has resigned in the face of students. Abdul Bashir.

A group of students organized Quran recitation in Battala of Dhaka University in the holy month of Ramadan on March 12 this year. Later, the dean of the Faculty of Arts, Abdul Bashir, complained to the chairman of the Arabic department about this. At that time, discussion-criticism was created all over the country. After the dean's resignation today, the students sat down and read the Quran for a while.

Today, Monday (August 19) at around 12:30, he submitted his resignation letter. However, as the vice-chancellor was not present, it was sent to the vice-chancellor's office.

In his resignation letter, he said, 'I, the undersigned, am resigning from the post of Dean of the Faculty of Arts on 19-08-2024. Take the necessary measures in this regard.'

Earlier, the students started protesting by surrounding the dean's office of the Faculty of Arts since morning. The dean ordered the students to be quiet but surrounded them until they resigned. At this time, they gave various slogans including 'Hasina Dalalera Hushiya Wardhan'. Later, Dean was forced to send his resignation letter.

A student said, Bachir sir harassed us for reciting the Holy Quran in Battala during the holy month of Ramadan. Told that action will be taken against us. Because they had a good time then, they did whatever torture they wanted, they hated Islam. But now times have changed, his powers are gone. Every student was angry at him. That has been mitigated somewhat by his resignation today.
