Revolutionising Stage Hire with Solar Power!

Stand J38

The Stage Bus team are excited to be exhibiting again at Event Sustainability Live this year – bringing with them a wealth of knowledge about how to make your outdoor events more eco- friendly and spreading the word about their innovative solar-powered mobile stages.

Established in 2007, The Stage Bus has gone from strength to strength, thanks to more events and event planners seeking to meet green targets and looking for sustainable suppliers. Starting the business with just one stage – converted from a vintage double decker bus – The Stage Bus now boasts a fleet of eight stages with options ranging from the cute and quirky to polished and powerful. These solar-powered stages are perfect for all kinds of events, from sporting events, festivals, road shows, brand activations and good old live music concerts with PA systems covering from 500 up to 10,000.

From their baby Camper Stage (a vintage Mark I Ford Transit Van which has been cleverly converted into a quirky mobile stage) to their ingenious Stage Box, The Stage Bus have designed and manufactured all of the stages in their fleet, which are designed to be fast set-up/break down and all of their stages come with lighting, PA and sound system built in, meaning that they are a one-stop shop for all things stage hire. Their stages use around 10% of the power of traditional stages, meaning they put a massive dent in energy consumption. They also arrive on site in one vehicle, which contains staging, equipment and crew, whereas traditional stages will typically arrive in several vehicles. This cuts their carbon footprint even further. The team of engineers also salvage vehicles from potential scrappage and painstakingly repair and restore them, giving unloved classic vehicles a new lease of life, in the best spirit of circular economy.

Sustainability is at the fore when the Stage Bus team is planning new projects or investing in new technology. In 2023, they invested in lighter solar powered batteries so that fuel consumption is reduced when transporting stages and additional batteries were purchased so that customers can keep the stage fully solar when the stage’s on-board batteries run out. This year, the company switched their fleet fuel from diesel to HVO, a renewable, synthetic diesel fuel that can be used as a straight replacement in diesel engines.

The Stage Bus continues its green ethos at its HQ, carrying out all repairs and maintenance in- house and operating a zero-to-landfill policy. They heat their office by heat pump and are in the process of powering their workshop by solar power. The team are also using their engineering know-how to electrify one of its lorries as an additional option for green-conscious clients.

Stage units are available for the smallest single-day events right up to longer term lease hires.
