Incessant rains and landslides from India have caused flooding in eight districts of the country. Residents of several districts including Feni, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Moulvibazar have suffered greatly. Lakhs of people in different districts have become waterlogged.
For two days, there was more rain in other parts of the country than in Dhaka. It may continue tomorrow Thursday as well. The heavy rains that have started, especially in the coastal areas, may continue.
KM Ali Reza, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, said on Wednesday (August 21) afternoon that Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Feni, Chittagong, Noakhali, Comilla and Khagrachari districts of the country have been affected by floods. Also, the flood may spread to new areas.
Ali Reza said that there is enough relief to deal with the flood situation. Cash, rice allotted. With the help of student coordinators, local administration and law and order forces, flood control work is underway.

River water in Sylhet is above the limit
The water level of the rivers in different points of Sylhet has increased. Of these, the Kushiara River has crossed water limits at two points.
Deepak Ranjan Dash, executive engineer of the Sylhet office of the Water Development Board, said that although the rainfall in Sylhet has reduced, nothing can be said about the flood situation. The flood situation in this region does not depend on Sylhet's rainfall. Being an area bordering India, floods occur as a result of landslides. Deepak Ranjan Dash said that even if there is a flood situation, the amount of damage will be less.
Heavy rains and landslides flooded the Akhaura land port and International Immigration Police check post in Brahmanbaria. After 10 am today, Wednesday, all immigration activities have been stopped. Traffic on Akhaura-Agartala road was stopped after a temporary bridge broke down in Gazi's Bazar area due to flooding. At least 50 villages of the upazila have been flooded. 300 families are in water-locked state.
On the other hand, more than 200 tourists are stranded in Saje due to floods. 50 villages in the district have already been flooded. Many areas of Khagrachari Sadar, Dighinala and Merung Union were inundated. Rangamati's communication with Longdu has been cut off due to flooding in the headquarters area of Dighinala-Longdu road.
Khagrachari Municipal Administrator Nazmun Ara Sultana said, '12 metric tons of food grains have been allocated for the flood victims. Already 2 thousand 550 packets of dry food have been distributed.

4 thousand hectares of crop land in Comilla is under water
Due to continuous rain and torrential water, the Gomti river in Comilla has increased and there is a risk of flooding. Around 4,000 hectares of cropland has already been submerged in water. Rain and torrential rains have been increasing continuously since last Tuesday night. The water of the river remained below the danger level till Wednesday morning, but the local residents fear that it will soon overflow the banks.
Incessant rains have caused extensive damage to Gomti pasture crops in Comilla. Ayub Mahmud, Deputy Director of Comilla Agriculture Extension Department, said that there has been extensive damage to crops. The extent of damage cannot be assessed until the water recedes. He called an emergency meeting with the agriculture officials.
Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said that the water level of the main rivers in the northeastern, eastern and southeastern regions of the country is increasing. In the next 24 hours, the waters of Muhuri and Halda rivers in south-eastern Feni and Chittagong districts may flow over the plains and the flood situation in the low-lying areas may remain stable.
Apart from this, in the next 24 hours the water of Gomti river in eastern Comilla district may flow over the plain and may cause short-term flooding in the adjacent low-lying areas. At the same time, the waters of Manu, Khoai, Dhalai rivers of North-Eastern Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts may flow over the plains and the flood situation in the lower areas may remain stable.
