Today is International Day for the Prevention of Missing Persons. International Day for the Prevention of Missing Persons is observed every year on August 30 to raise awareness about the crime of disappearance worldwide. After the fall of the Awami League-led government, the day will be celebrated amid strong demands from various quarters for the trial of the disappearances.

On the occasion of the day, the relatives of the missing persons and various human rights organizations demanded the return of the missing persons to their families.

The International Convention for the Protection of All Persons Against Enforced Disappearance, which came into force in December 2010, declared August 30 as the International Day of Remembrance of Disappeared Persons.

On the occasion of the day, various organizations including mother's call, the relatives of the missing persons have organized various programs. Mother's call will hold human chain program at Central Shaheed Minar this Friday morning.

Non-governmental human rights organizations Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) and Human Rights Support Society (HRSS) have made different demands in separate statements. These include ensuring the protection of all citizens from disappearances, establishing justice by ensuring the proper rehabilitation and safety of victims of disappearances and their families, prompt tracing and repatriation of all missing victims to their families, and identifying and punishing those responsible for the disappearances. take action

Apart from this, it is demanded that action be taken according to international standards for filing complaints regarding the missing persons and their families and ensure proper compensation for the missing persons and their families.
