The pressure is mounting for the San Francisco 49ers to finalize a deal with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in light of CeeDee Lamb’s monster four-year, $136 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Along with Lamb, Aiyuk’s ongoing contract negotiations with San Francisco have been one of the most popular talking points this offseason.
The 49ers receiver has not participated in team practices as he awaits a new contract from San Francisco.
Two of the biggest issues with the contract negotiations is how much guaranteed money Aiyuk will receive from the 49ers and how many years he will get on the contract.

Lamb received $100 million in guaranteed money from Dallas. The whopping total has probably given Aiyuk some justification in what he’s expecting from the 49ers. It certainly begs the question whether Lamb’s recent deal with the Cowboys has only fueled the fire in San Francisco.
Last week, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an update on the never-ending situation on KNBR, the local Bay Area radio station.

“Oh, so much has changed. No, I’m just joking,” Shanahan said. “No, no new updates. I’m sorry to keep being boring with that, but I wish I was saying something different, but nothing’s changed yet.”
Aiyuk is reported to want somewhere around $30 million annually from the 49ers, which would put the Arizona State product alongside elite company.
Justin Jefferson became the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history when he signed a four-year, $140 million extension this offseason. With Lamb’s new contract, he is now the second-highest-paid non quarterback in the league.

Lamb’s recent deal has likely put even more pressure on San Francisco to get things finalized with their star receiver.
The 26-year-old is coming off his first All-Pro season in 2023. Aiyuk posted 75 receptions for 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 17.9 yards per reception.
Entering his fifth season in the NFL, Aiyuk is determined to get a contract he deems adequate.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the contract saga final concludes for Aiyuk and the 49ers in the coming days. But it also wouldn’t be hard to imagine if the negotiations are prolonged in light of Lamb’s new contract.
Many 49ers fans are desperate for the story to come to an end, but the entire offseason has featured a roller coaster of reports regarding Aiyuk’s contract situation.
However, as of late, one thing is clear — the Cowboys took care of their guy, and now it’s time for San Francisco to do the same.
