A rare species of 'Yellow-bellied Sea Snake' has washed up on the beach in Noakhali Island Upazila Hatia. Chairman of Hatia Upazila Parishad confirmed the matter on Thursday (April 25) afternoon. Mahbub Morshed Liton. Earlier, the snake was seen at the Dighi beach in Kamala upazila on Wednesday, April 24 afternoon.
Upazila Chairman Md. Mahbub Morshed Liton said that on Wednesday, a young man named Tanim went for a walk on Dighi beach of Kamal in Kazi Bazar of Char Ishwar Union of Upazila. At that time he saw the snake. Then some local people also saw the snake there. I have reported the matter to the local forest department. Then some pictures of that snake spread on social media.
Divisional Forest Officer of Coastal Forest Division Noakhali Abu Yusuf said, I came to know about this through Facebook. It is a poisonous snake. As amphibians, various species of snakes are often found in water and on land. However, this species of snake is rare. They are not common in this region. The 'Yellow Bellied Sea Snake' rises to the coast towards evening and goes back to the sea after seeing the human traffic.'
