Nauthana police have arrested 12 fishermen for fishing with illegal current nets in the Meghna river of Rajarajeshwar, Chandpur Sadar. On Saturday (May 11) evening, Nauthan OC Kamruzzaman gave this information.
The arrested fishermen are Chandu Bhuiyan (25), Suruj Bhuiyan (28), Iqbal Bhuiyan (19), Yasin Chayal (22), Ibrahim Khalil Ullah (20), Jalil Sikder (60), Shahjahan Khan (62), Noor Islam Kabiraj. (38), Mahan Howladar (27), Farooq Mia (23), Mannan Khanhe Mana Khan (65) and Ramzan Sheikh (25). The other two are minors.
OC Kamruzzaman said, 2200 meters of illegal current net, 3 engine driven old wooden boats were recovered from the custody of these fishermen. Two regular cases under the Fisheries Act have been filed against 12 fishermen. The two detainees are under the custody of their guardians.
