Election Commissioner Md. Ahsan Habib Khan said that taking over the center is far from the case, the center will be closed if one vote is fake. If someone wants to spread influence or trouble with muscle power and black money, they will call the police, if they fail, polling will be stopped and polling will be conducted separately in those centers later.
He said that strict legal action should be taken immediately if any candidate violates the code of conduct or commits electoral offences.
The Election Commissioner said these things in response to the questions of the journalists at the end of the exchange meeting on the occasion of the second phase of Upazila Parishad elections at Jhalkathi Shilpakala Academy on Saturday afternoon.
The Election Commissioner said, to increase the voter turnout, extensive campaigns will be conducted in the respective areas, so that the voters can go to the center and exercise their right to vote without fear. The meeting was held on Saturday at 11 am in the auditorium of the District Art Academy. Contesting candidates from Barisal, Jhalkathi and Pirojpur districts were present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner of Jhalkathi Farah Gul Nijhum presided over the meeting among others Deputy Commissioner of Barisal Md. Shahidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Pirojpur Zahidur Rahman and Barisal RAB-8 captain Colonel Zubair Alam Shubo.
In the meeting, Election Commissioner Ahsan Habib Khan said that all candidates are equal to me. Free, fair, impartial and acceptable elections will be ensured at any cost. Strict legal action will be taken immediately if any candidate violates the code of conduct or commits electoral offences.
He directed the district administration and police department to maintain law and order situation.
