Delivery worker disappeared with money, counter-complaints

A young man named Sajal Sheikh (20) has been missing for five days in Kumarkhali, Kushtia, along with nearly half a lakh of rupees from a private institution. In this incident, Sajal's father and the owner of the establishment have complained against each other.

The missing is the son of Shafiq Sheikh of Jotmora village of Jaduboyra union of Sajal upazila. He was working as a delivery man in a private company.

According to the written complaint given to the police station, Deen Mohammad Sachchu has a dealership business in Tebaria area of ​​Kumarkhali municipality. He is a dealer of ACI group of tissues and other products. Sajal has been working there as a delivery man for a long time.

Last Wednesday (April 29) around 9 am, Sajal took the goods in a van from the dealer point and delivered it to various shops and collected the cash. His mobile number was found switched off around 8:30 pm. Despite many searches, Sajal was not found. Later, the police recovered the van from the Upazila Health Complex road.

On Monday (May 4), dealer point owner Deen Mohammad Sachchu said, “Sajal ran away with about 55,000 taka from the collection of Bazar. Before that, he embezzled about 85,000 taka by staging a robbery on April 7.”

He complained that around 10 pm on April 7, Sajal said that the robbers beat him and robbed him of 85,000 taka and a mobile phone from Zilapitala on the Kushtia-Rajabari road. In this incident, a written complaint was lodged at the police station on April 9 by an unknown accused. After investigating the complaint a few days ago, it was found that the robbery was organized by Sajal.

Sajal's father Shafiq Sheikh said that his son was abducted for the purpose of harming him. On the night of April 7, after beating up the son, around 80,000 taka in cash and a mobile phone were stolen from him.

Kumarkhali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Jamal Uddin said, after reviewing the CCTV footage after the written complaint, initially it seems that the boy is in voluntary hiding. Everything will be confirmed after he is rescued.”
