Formation of 12-member expert panel on health sector reforms

The Ministry of Health has formed an expert panel of 12 members for the necessary reforms of the existing health system of the country. The committee has been chaired by the former Director General of the Department of Health. MA Faizke.

This information was informed in a letter from the Government Health Management Department on Tuesday (September 3).

According to the letter, an expert panel consisting of experts has been formed to improve the quality of medical services and strengthen the structure of the health system. Former Director General of the Department of Health Professor Dr. MA Faiz has been made President and former Director of National Cardiac Institute and Hospital Professor Abdullah Shafi Mazumder as Member Secretary.

The expert committee has been made a member of the president of Bangladesh Diabetic Association Professor Dr. AK Azad Khan, Professor Dr. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor. Saidur Rahman, former director of the Institute of Epidemiology and Disease Control (IEDCR) Prof. Dr. Mahmudur Rahman, senior obstetrician and gynecologist Professor Dr. Ferdowsi Begum, former professor of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The former Additional Director General (Planning and Development) of the Department of Health is a member of the committee. The scope of work of the expert panel is said to be policy-making for necessary thematic reforms of the existing health system of the country, recognition of world-class medical education at all levels and advice on modernization of higher education, reform of the existing health system to ensure quality health services in urban, rural and remote areas and Advising on necessary policy-making and structural reforms to ensure proper utilization of manpower and equipment in all health centers through strengthening of effective health system structure and necessary reforms and strengthening of regulatory structures of major medical educational institutions of the country such as BMDC, BMRC, BNMC and others.
