In Sylhet, 8 young people were arrested and married, the resort caught fire

Locals arrested 12 boys and girls for anti-social activities in Regent Park and Resort of Moglabazar Thana of South Surma Upazila of Sylhet. Later, the residents took the initiative to call the guardians and marry them socially.

This incident happened on Sunday (January 19) afternoon. The homes of the arrested boys and girls are in Bishwanath and Fenchuganj of Sylhet, Jagannathpur of Sunamganj and Moulvibazar.

Complaints of locals There are allegations of anti-social activities taking place in Regent Park of Silam Union of South Surma Upazila since the beginning. It has increased over the last 5-6 months. Although it is a park in name, several rest rooms have been kept. School-college students rent these rooms and engage in anti-social activities safely. On this occasion, the park authorities collect extra money from them.

On Sunday (January 19) afternoon, 12 boys and girls rented a few rooms and started doing anti-social work. On getting the news, the local student mob came to the park in the afternoon and detained them inside the room. The arrested boys and girls are between 16 and 21 years old, they said during interrogation.

Moglabazar thana police went to the spot after receiving the information. However, the local mentors informed the parents of these 12 boys and girls and arranged for the marriage by bringing a Qazi and collecting a dowry of Tk 10 lakh. Four couples were married in the presence of their parents. The relatives of the rest assured to organize the marriage on their own initiative.

Meanwhile, at one point, the angry crowd set fire to the resort. On receiving information, South Surma Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moglabazar Police Station. When Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman was contacted, he said, we went to the spot after getting the information. There are 12 boys and girls here. Locals found anti-social working conditions in their various rooms. Later the teachers of the area informed their parents.

When Humayun Kabir, the manager of the resort was contacted over the phone, he said that he was outside at the time of the incident and did not know what had happened. Helal Uddin, a resident of the city, has leased the resort.
