Examination boycott on demand of politics-free campus

The students of Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) boycotted the examination demanding a campus free from student politics. All but one student refrained from appearing in the 20th batch term final examination on Sunday (March 31). The protesting students gave this information in the press conference.

In the press conference, it was said that out of 1,215 students of the 20th batch of BUET, 1,214 did not participate in the term final examination. Through this, their position against the re-establishment of student politics on the campus has been clearly proven.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Chhatra League held a protest rally at the foot of the central Shaheed Minar at 11 am on Sunday, terming the university administration's decision to ban student politics in BUET as unconstitutional, against fundamental rights and against education.

Chhatra League leaders said in the rally that cadres of banned Hizb ut Tahrir, JMB and Chhatra Shibir are continuing their activities in BUET. They are inviting students in various ways, Tanguar Haore camp is holding anti-national meetings. So the decision to ban student politics in BUET is a drama. This drama should be stopped and systematic student politics should be introduced.

In the rally, the Chhatra League protested the cancellation of the allotted seat of the residential hall of Imtiaz Hossain Rahim Rabbi, a student of the 21st batch of civil engineering department of BUET. Along with that, the student body has given 24 hours ultimatum to the BUET administration to return the rabbi's seat.

After the rally, the leaders and activists of Chhatra League entered the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology with flowers and paid tribute to the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Then they left Buet.
