Awami League organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain and retired rear admiral Mohammad Sohail, former chairman of Chittagong port, have been accused as the masterminds behind the murder of youth leader Naveen Talukder.

On Wednesday (August 21), Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hasan of Paltan Model Police Station applied for a 10-day remand after presenting Ahmad and Sohail in court in Navin Talukder's murder case. The said allegations have been made in the remand application.

According to the remand application, Ahmad Hossain is a central leader of Bangladesh Awami League and a former member of parliament and Mohammad Sohail is a former military officer. They are the masterminds of Navin Talukdar's murder. When ordinary students were on the streets during the quota reform movement across Bangladesh, unknown assailants with their planning and indirect support shot at the accused on the orders of the accused to quell the movement. Navin Talukder was seriously injured. Later he died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The investigating officer prayed for granting a 10-day remand for the interrogation of Ahmad Hossain and Mohammad Sohail. On behalf of the state. Asaduzzaman also wants 10 days remand. On behalf of the accused, their lawyers applied for cancellation of remand and bail.

The judge wants to know whether the defendants have anything to say or not. Mohammad Sohail said, 'I was sitting at my workplace in Chittagong on the day of the incident. I don't know anything about the incident. I have been arrested and brought in this case. Ahmad Hossain also claimed that he was not involved in the incident.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim said after the hearing, 'They are suspicious accused. However, it is a murder case, it will be remanded.' The court later remanded each of them for four days.

During the quota reform movement on July 19, Yuba Dal leader Navin Talukder died in police firing in Paltan police station area. The next day his wife Ruma Akhtar filed a case.
