The court has ordered to send Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) chairman and former member of parliament barrister Andalib Rahman Parth to jail in the case of Banani police station in connection with the attack and arson of Setu Bhavan during the quota movement.

On Friday (August 2), he was produced in court after being remanded for eight days in two phases. After that, the investigating officer of the case, DB Inspector Abu Said Mia, requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is over. On the other hand, the accused's lawyers asked for bail. After the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka. Rashidul Alam's court denied his bail and sent him to prison.

Earlier, the court granted remand for five days on July 25 and three days on July 30 in this case.

Banani police station general registration wing officer Sub-Inspector of Police Shah Alam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post in the court.

According to the complaint of the case, on July 18, the officers and employees of Setu Bhaban continued to carry out office activities as usual. The anonymous 250 to 300 convicts participating in the ongoing quota reform movement came in front of our office with domestic weapons, batons, brickbats and shouted various anti-government slogans in the name of quota reform movement.

In this incident, Rabiul Islam, the caretaker of Setu Bhavan, filed the case at Banani police station as the plaintiff.
