RAB has arrested Abdur Rahman Badi, a former member of Parliament from Cox's Bazar. On Tuesday night, RAB said in a small message that Abdur Rahman Badi was arrested from Panchlaish area of ​​Chittagong.

RAB has informed that he has been arrested in a case of attempted murder in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf.

RAB-7 Chittagong Assistant Director (Mass Media) Sharif Ul Alam told the media that Abdur Rahman Badi was arrested from Mehdi Bagh area of ​​Chittagong city around 10 pm based on secret information.

Abdur Rahman Badi was elected Member of Parliament from Cox's Bazar-4 (Ukhia-Teknaf) constituency in the 9th and 10th national parliamentary elections as a candidate of Awami League. Awami League nominated his wife Shaheen Akhtar instead of Badi in the 11th and 12th National Parliament elections as he was convicted in a corruption case. He was elected Member of Parliament for two terms.

Abdur Rahman Badi's name is on the Home Ministry's list as a sponsor of drug smuggling. The list names at least 26 members of the family, including Badi's four brothers, as 'drug godfathers'.

A case was filed against 33 people in the police station last Wednesday with Abdur Rahman Badi as the main accused for vandalism, looting and attack on business establishments in Teknaf. Teknaf Upazila Parishad chairman Zafar Ahmed has also been accused in this case. Cox's Bazar District BNP Finance Secretary Mohammad Abdullah filed a written complaint at Teknaf Police Station as a plaintiff. About 70 unidentified people were accused in this.
