Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim 'murdered' in Kolkata

The body of Bangladeshi parliamentarian Anwarul Azim Anar, who went missing in India, has been recovered from Newtown, an elite area of ​​Kolkata.

Anwarul Azim's personal assistant (PS) Abdur Rauf confirmed this information. Apart from this, the recovery of his body has also been reported in the Indian media.

However, it is not yet known whether he was killed or not. Abdur Rauf also said that two people have been arrested in this incident. However, the Calcutta media headlines every day – Bangladesh MP 'murdered' in Newtown.

Anwarul Azim Anar was the Member of Parliament (MP) for three consecutive terms and President of Kaliganj Upazila Awami League of the border area Jhenaidah-4 Constituency.

On May 19, Anwarul Azim's personal assistant (PS) Abdur Rauf told Dhaka Post that on May 11, MP Anwarul Azim went to India for Anna's treatment. But then on May 16, he was last spoken to.

Anwarul Azim's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen also went to the DB office on May 19 regarding the matter. That day, he said, I have not been able to get my father on the phone for three days. His mobile phone is sometimes open and sometimes closed. Later I contacted DB head about this. He told me he was looking into it. Later today I came to his office. He is helping us. I came to the DB office mainly because I couldn't get my father on the phone. I myself will go to India soon.

It was informed by the police that around the morning of May 16, MP Anar's location was in Bihar's Mozaffarabad. From there PS Rauf and District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim Mintu were called. However, whether the phone call was actually made by the MP or not, there was a new cloud of smoke.

Anwarul Azim Annar is the Awami League nominated Member of Parliament for Jhenaidah-4 Constituency. He was elected Member of Parliament three times consecutively in 2014, 2018 and 2024 on the nomination of Awami League.
