Capital market regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has joined as a commissioner. ATM Tarikuzzaman.

He joined the Finance Ministry's Financial Institutions Department on Monday (May 20) morning. Then he came to his office at BSEC around 3 pm. At this time he was welcomed with flowers.

It is known that on Sunday (May 19) the commissioner retired from BSEC. Mizanur Rahman. His four-year contractual term with the government to serve as commissioner ends on this day. Professor Dr. BSEC. Mizanur Rahman was replaced by the former executive director of the organization and the recently retired managing director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). ATM Tarikuzzaman.

Earlier last Sunday (May 19) in a private conversation with RisingBD. ATM Tarikuzzaman mentioned that the capital market of the country is currently facing challenges and expressed his commitment to build a 'smart capital market' by ensuring good governance in the capital market.

He said, I have worked in BSEC for more than 25 years. Once again there is an opportunity to work in BSEC in a new way. It is indeed a joy as well as a glory. I would like to thank the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, State Minister for Finance and Ministry of Finance for considering me qualified for this post. It is definitely possible to overcome or change the current situation in the capital market. I firmly believe that. There is no substitute for good governance in capital market development. If we get everyone's cooperation, we will make every effort to build a 'smart capital market' by ensuring good governance. This will ensure the safety of the invested capital of the investors.

Dr. Tarek said that the role of the capital market in the country's economy is important. If everyone works together, it will be possible to implement Smart Bangladesh by 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And that's why smart capital market is needed. I want to do something good for the development of the country's capital market in the light of experience. I will present to the commission the thoughts that I have for the development of the capital market, ensuring good governance and in the interest of investors.

By the way, Dr. BSEC appointed ATM Tarikuzzaman as Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on August 8 last year. Following this, he joined DSE on September 17 of that year. After eight months of joining, on May 8 this year, the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance appointed him as Commissioner of BSEC. Sunday (May 19) was his last working day at DSE.

Dr. ATM Tarikuzzaman holds an M.Com in Accountancy from Dhaka University and an MBA from South Eastern University (UK Campus). He joined Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission as Deputy Director in 1997.
