Discussion meeting of teachers and students demanding the appointment of Jobi Vice Chancellor

The teachers and students of the university exchanged views on various issues including appointment of vice-chancellor among the teachers of Jagannath University, various infrastructural reforms, identifying the basic problems of the students.

The exchange meeting was held on Sunday (September 1) in the teachers' lounge of the university. At that time, 32 representatives of 37 department representatives of 'Job Reform Movement' were present.

At this time, the department representatives said, we want to see the university at a stage where our university will be able to conduct all kinds of activities independently. We need a competent administration who will actually work for the welfare of the students to fulfill our basic rights. They will not sit in the administration and implement any party agenda ignoring the interests of the university. Jagannath University will be transformed into an international university through the joint research of teachers and students.

At that time Riazul Islam, a student of law department, said, you all are aware that we have a discussion meeting with the representatives of the designated department of 'Jagannath University Reform Movement' with our teachers. We teachers, students, officers and employees will work together to advance the university.

The general secretary of the university teachers' association. Sheikh Mashrik Hasan said, to protect the identity of Jagannath University, to speed up the pace of all activities and to transform the university into an international quality university, we need to appoint a vice-chancellor from among the professors of the university at this moment. Teachers, students, officers and employees have already united to demand the appointment of a vice-chancellor from among university professors.

Associate Professor of History Department. Mohammad Bilal Hossain said, we have already established the movement to appoint vice-chancellors from among university professors as an internal movement. Jagannath University teachers, students, officials and staff will not accept it if vice-chancellor is appointed from outside ignoring this movement.
