Four Bangladeshi TV channels with Jamuna closed on YouTube in India


At least four Bangladeshi television channels have been removed from YouTube at the request of the Government of India, the FactChatting company Dissmislab said. Blocked channels are Jamuna Television, Ektaar TV, BanglaVision and Mohana TV.

The BBC writes that these four channels are not currently visible on India's YouTube platform. Although other TV channels in Bangladesh are seen on YouTube.

In these four cases, YouTube users are getting a message: 'This content is not available in India due to national security and public order.'

Disslab said they observed a total of four Bangladeshi TV channels via VPN and got these four channels in a block. According to their report, Jamuna Television received an official notice from YouTube, where information about blocking their channel.

Under the India's Information Technology Act, if the government of the country consider a content to be a threat to national security, sovereignty or public discipline, YouTube has the legal power to block it.

Earlier, social media X (previously Twitter) said that about 5,000 accounts were blocked in the country at the request of India.
