The government has slightly reduced the price of fuel oil at the consumer level in the country in coordination with the world market.
The Ministry of Energy informed this information in a notification on Thursday. The new price of fuel will be effective from Friday.
In the notification, the new price of diesel and kerosene has been fixed at 108 taka 25 paisa per litre. The current price of these two fuels is 109 rupees. Price reduced by 75 paise.
On the other hand, the price of octane has been reduced by Tk 4 to Tk 126 per liter and the price of petrol has been reduced by Tk 3 to Tk 122.
Currently, octane is being sold at Tk 130 per liter and petrol at Tk 125.
According to the notification, according to the guidelines, the sale price will be adjusted at the consumer level in light of the import and purchase price of fuel oil every month from now.
Prior to this, fuel prices were adjusted three times from November 2021 to August next year. This increases the price of diesel-kerosene by 44 taka per liter or up to 67 percent.
IMF recommends market-based fuel oil prices by the end of 2022. Since then, the government has been on the path of making policies.
On March 5, Minister of State for Energy Nasrul Hamid told reporters that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the proposal to reduce oil prices.
Nasrul Hamid said, 'Discussions have been held regarding the uninterrupted supply of electricity and fuel during the hot season. Fuel prices will be affordable. Fuel prices will be fixed this week under the fuel dynamic pricing system.
The price will be fixed considering the oil price in the world market. The approval of the Prime Minister has been received in this regard. It will be announced this week.'
Earlier, on March 3, Nasrul Hamid gave a glimpse of reducing the price of fuel oil.
