Ghulam Azam's claim of seeking 'reformation of the Qur'an' is false

A report in 'Dainik Ajker Kagaz' has gone viral on a part of the book written by former Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Golam Azam. The report titled 'Ghulam Azam is carving on God' claimed that he wanted to reform the Holy Quran. However, the truth of this could not be found in the book, said Kadruddin Shishir, FactCheck Editor of AFP Bangladesh.

On Wednesday (September 4) night, he explained the matter on his social media Facebook.

Kadruddin Shishir wrote, many people posted a photo of a news report on Facebook claiming that the former Amir of Jamaat 'Ghulam Azam wanted to reform the Koran'.

Some post claims, Ghulam Azam wrote in his book 'The Truth of Adam's Creation', “It was necessary to bring the 4th Ruku' of Surah Baqarah first”. In other words, Ghulam Azam is not satisfied with the ruku arrangement of the surah.

But in the book 'The Truth of the Creation of Adam', 'Why is Surah Al-Baqarah at the beginning of the Qur'an?' Reading the title page, it was seen that Ghulam Azam expressed no displeasure with the sura's ruku arrangement but expressed admiration explaining why the first 4 rukus of the sura 'was very urgent'. (The screenshot shows the related part on page 25 and 26 of the book).

Interestingly, a paper-cutting-like image claimed to be a part of the August 3, 1998 copy of Daily Ajker Kagaz newspaper also appears in a report entitled “Ghulam Azam carving on God: First 4 Ruku's of Surah Al-Baqara were very important at the beginning of the entire Quran”. There is no displeasing statement of this leader of the Jamaat in the arrangement of the surah.

It is also seen in the part referred to as 'a part of the book of the truth of the creation of Adam' in the report, Ghulam Azam wrote, “It was very important to give the first 4 bows of al-Baqarah at the beginning of the entire Quran. Now let's see why these 4 bows are important from the point of view of the movement.”

In other words, in fact, there is Surah Baqarah at the very beginning of the Qur'an (after Surah Fatiha) and its first 4 bows, which are properly placed at the very beginning of the Surah, are very logical and 'necessary', Ghulam Azam thinks. But the report in today's paper misrepresents the matter. [মূল পোস্টটি এখানে আছে]
