Law and order forces are entering the field in the second phase of upazila elections


Polling in 157 upazilas in the second phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad election will be held on May 21 (Tuesday). The election campaign ends on Sunday (May 19) at midnight. Law enforcement forces including BGB, RAB are entering the field today to keep the environment peaceful during the election. They will be on duty for a total of five days before and after the polls. The Ministry of Home Affairs has already issued a circular in this regard.

According to the circular, 17 people each of police, Ansar and village police will be deployed in plain polling stations and 19 people will be deployed in vulnerable centers. In remote and hilly areas, 19 people will be deployed in general centers and 21 people in vulnerable centers.

There will be one executive magistrate in each union to enforce the election code of conduct. Apart from this, one Executive Magistrate will be assigned with each mobile or striking force.

Meanwhile, there will be one Judicial Magistrate in the upazila to try the electoral crimes. Government Emergency Service 999 will have a special team. The team will report directly to the area-based law and order coordination cell for prompt action on election-related complaints or information received.

Apart from this, BGB, Bangladesh Coast Guard, Armed Police, Ansar Battalion, RAB, Police, Ansar and VDP, local administration will perform the duties assigned to them. Besides, traffic will be restricted in the polling area at the same time.
