Maharashtra, India is the battleground in the case of sexual abuse of 2 students

While the whole of India is in turmoil over the rape and murder of a doctor by RG, in the midst of the sexual abuse of two children in a school, the Maharashtra police station has become a battlefield. Badlapur Thane was in turmoil on Tuesday with incidents like clashes between protesters and the police, stones being thrown at the police, road and rail blockades.

On August 13, a cleaner of the school was accused of sexually abusing two students in a reputed English medium school. The accused was arrested on August 16 after an FIR was lodged against him. In this incident, the parents joined the protest against the authorities, questioning the safety of the students.

A section of parents complained that no action was taken by the school authorities even after such an incident took place. Alleging negligence against the school authorities, the residents called for a shutdown in Badlapur.

They alleged that even after the incident, the school authorities showed no interest in taking any action against the accused. Not only that, the parents protested on the streets of Badlapur since Tuesday morning, alleging delay in filing an FIR against the accused, negligence in school security. Amjanata also joined them. Heavy police force was deployed in various parts of the city to deal with the protesters. But even after that, things got heated. There were frequent clashes with the police when trying to remove the protesters. Badlapur railway station, road blocked by protesters. There was a clash with the police when they tried to evict them from there. Stones were allegedly thrown at the police.

Several security gaps in the school have already come to light in the police investigation. A question has also been raised as to why there is no female attendant in the school. Apart from that, the police found out from the investigation that even though there are CCTV cameras in the school, most of them are not working.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has formed a special investigation team and ordered an investigation into the Badlapur school incident. The police commissioner has also been asked to submit a report on the incident by Tuesday.

It is to be noted that the body of the female doctor was recovered from the seminar room on the fourth floor of the emergency department of RG Kar Hospital in the early hours of August 9. She was allegedly raped and murdered. Kolkata Police was initially investigating the case. One person has been arrested by the police. After that, the investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI on the orders of the Calcutta High Court.
