One person was killed after being hit by a motorcycle on Padma Bridge


A microbus driver was killed after being hit by a motorcycle on Munshiganj section of Padma Bridge. The police arrested the motorcycle driver and his wife in this incident.

The accident happened on Friday (April 12) around 10:30 am in the area between pillars 11 and 12 of Mawa end of Munshiganj Bridge.

The deceased Taib Ali (35) of Bagia area of ​​Kashiani police station of Gopalganj. Son of Belayt Sheikh. Mawa Traffic Police Inspector ASM Ziaul Haider confirmed the matter.

According to police and local sources, a microbus with passengers from Sipahipara in Munshiganj was going towards Kashiani in Gopalganj in the morning. When it got over the Padma Bridge, the rear wheel of the microbus exploded with a loud noise. Later, when the driver of the microbus got out of the car and tried to repair the wheel, a motorcycle hit him, killing Taib Ali on the spot.

On receiving the information, the accused motorcyclist Ajmir Hossain (28) and his wife Shrabani Islam (27) came to the spot and arrested the police and bridge security personnel.

Mawa Traffic Police Inspector ASM Ziaul Haider said that two people have been arrested by members of the Padma Setu North Police Station. Besides, the dead body has been recovered and taken into police custody. The body will be handed over to the relatives of the deceased after the legal process. Initially, it is believed that the accident happened due to the high speed of the motorcycle. The bridge authorities are monitoring the cause and situation of the accident by looking at the CCTV footage.
